The author proposes a complete ETL architecture with a detailed description and examples regarding each of the ETL process phases: Extraction, Transformation and Loading. The first part of the presentation covers such general topics as the ETL Data Warehouse refreshment process, construction of the ETL process, building dimension and fact tables The presentation contains a quick tutorial showing how to implement an ETL process in Microsoft Integration Services, a part of SQL Server 2005. It shows how to create simple transformations and a sample ETL flow using the Import Export wizard and advanced development in BI Development Studio. |
